Colour has always been central to what we do.

Our in-house dyehouse develops and produces thousands of bespoke colours, allowing designers to create palettes that are unique to each project. Whether matching a specific material, referencing local surroundings or creating something entirely new, colour can be developed with exceptional accuracy.

Having our own dyehouse gives us complete control over colour consistency throughout production. From large projects to small, every batch is carefully dyed to ensure colours remain true from the first metre woven to the last.

Our dyehouse also reflects our ongoing investment in manufacturing. In 2018 we introduced a new Dyehouse & Energy Centre, replacing our previous vat dyeing process with modern dyeing technology. Alongside improved colour control, this significantly reduced water consumption while recovering heat from wastewater to preheat incoming water, improving overall energy efficiency.

For Ulster, dyeing is where creativity and manufacturing come together. It combines technical precision with an understanding of colour that has been developed over decades of experience.
