Colour is at the heart of every Axminster design. Through layers of tone, subtle variation and carefully balanced contrast, it brings depth, texture and character to a space.
Working closely with each customer, our designers develop bespoke colour palettes from thousands of possibilities. Whether inspired by interior finishes, brand identity, or a completely new concept, every palette is carefully refined through sampling until the desired result is achieved.
Each colour is then developed in our Dyehouse and Energy Centre in Northern Ireland, where skilled dye specialists work alongside our design team to bring every scheme to life with precision and consistency.
Colour and Craft
Our colour processes begins with the fibre itself. At Ulster Yarns, our specialists meticulously select premium wool, ensuring exceptional colour clarity and depth from the outset. This foundation allows every shade to be expressed with richness and integrity.
Within our Dyehouse and Energy Centre, our colour experts can expertly match and create virtually any shade. Advanced dyeing technologies ensure consistency across every batch, delivering confidence and continuity at scale.
Our patented weaving technology further enhances creative possibilities, enabling palettes of up to 25 colours. This expanded spectrum empowers our Designers to introduce layered, expressive colour without compromising durability or performance.
From a practical perspective, these curated colour palettes can be applied across multiple designs and large areas, creating visual cohesion while supporting project efficiency.
Precision continues through our design approval process. Digital concepts evolve into detailed hand trials, allowing for accurate colour evaluation and refinement before production begins.
