RDANI - It’s what you can do that counts!

Every week people of all ages get the chance to enjoy horse riding and carriage driving thanks to the superb work of The Riding for the Disabled Association Northern Ireland.

Established over 50 years ago in the UK, in Northern Ireland the Association currently has 21 registered groups with approximately 80 coaches delivering 8,500 participant sessions to 1000 participants, supported by over 400 volunteers.

These groups provide people of all ages with learning difficulties and physical disabilities with access to horse riding and, in some cases, carriage driving in order to promote mental and physical health, learning, and general wellbeing.

For many of these participants, it may be the only opportunity they get to take part in an active outdoor sport and have fun.

Ulster Carpets have proudly supported the important work of the RDANI for almost 20 years and recently welcomed Judith Watt and Katie Uprichard to their global headquarters to mark the continuing partnership.

Judith Watt, RDANI Chair, said, “Ulster Carpets has been a steadfast supporter of RDA NI over many years, helping ensure that our stories have a platform in our Northern Ireland biannual magazine.

“Our visit left us with a strong sense of pride in our association with a company whose work extends from a local community to an international stage and is something truly worth celebrating.”

She added, “Horses are at the core of what we do and equine welfare is a primary consideration in all our activities. We are so grateful to all the owners, equestrian centres, riding schools and, of course, the RDA owned centres for facilitating us and all our supporters and sponsors who make this possible.”

Nick Coburn, Chief Executive Officer at Ulster Carpets,, said, “We are proud to have supported the vital work of RDANI for almost 20 years, and during this time we have seen the profound difference this remarkable organisation makes to individuals and communities across Northern Ireland.

“The dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers is truly inspiring. Their commitment not only enhances the physical and mental wellbeing of members, but also plays a crucial role in building confidence, independence and a sense of achievement.”
